If this then that

Reading Time: 1 minute

IFTTT is an acronym for “If This Then That“. IFTTT is a new way to connect your services, mobile apps, and IoT devices among each other. Absolutely no programming experience necessary to use IFTTT services.

IFTTT is community driven service and it’s absolutely Free. You can setup your own Applets. You can select Applets created by others.

Simplest examples:

You can setup “Applet” to remind you every top of the hour to drink water.

You can setup “Applet” to remind you to take your umbrella if heavy rain in the forecast for today.

You can setup “Applet” to SMS your spouse when you start from your office.

How it works?

IFTTT works on the fundamental idea of a “Trigger” to do an “Action”. You select a Trigger and then select an action; name the Applet and start using it. That’s it.

IFTTT can connect:

  • Apps to Apps.
  • Apps to Service.
  • Apps to IoT devices.
  • Services to Services.
  • Services to Apps.
  • Services to IoT devices.
  • IoT devices to IoT device.
  • IoT devices to Services.
  • IoT devices to Apps.
